|Dr. Fanous was born and raised in Abilene, Texas. He
graduated magna cum laude from Abilene Christian
University before being accepted to medical school at
the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
There he graduated in the top 25% of his class. He
completed his internal medicine training at
Scott&White Hospital in Temple. He then went on to
complete his fellowship in Gastroenterology at LSU in
Dr. Fanous has been on staff at UT Health Main
Campus (formerly ETMC) since completing his
fellowship in 1994. He served on the Peer Review
Committe for almost 10years. His complication rates
have been below national average. He is proud of his
ADR (precancerous polyp detection rate) during
colonoscopy being higher than the national average.
Dr. Fanous and his wife Connie have five children. He
enjoys running, cycling, tennis, crossword puzzles, and
